Martin Kainz (Danube University Krems, Austria)

Martin Kainz is the working group leader of the Kainz Lab at the Danube University Krems in Austria. His group's research focuses mainly on how aquatic food webs are functioning, how dietary energy is synthesized, transferred and converted, and affecting life in aquatic ecosystems.
The Kainz Lab team investigates trophic interactions using biochemical tracers (stable isotopes, lipids, etc.) in experimental setups (lab experiments, mesocosms) and natureal ecosystems, such as streams, lakes, reservoirs, and fish ponds to elucidate how diet sources and physico-chemical parameters act within aquatic food webs.

Keynote talk: Discerning dietary lipid sources and their ecophysiological fate in fish tissues
